Aspheric Lens An aspheric lens is a rotationally‑symmetric optical lens with at least one non‑spherical surface. Its radius of curvature varies continuously from the center to the edge of the lens. Made of optical glass, quartz or optical resin, it can be coated or edged. Unlike spherical lenses with constant curvature, its surface profile is precisely optimized to suppress optical aberrations. It greatly eliminates spherical aberration, coma and distortion. A single aspheric lens can replace multiple spherical lenses, helping optical modules become compact and lightweight. It supports large aperture and high luminous flux. However, it has higher requirements for machining and surface testing, leading to higher cost. Common types: plano‑aspheric lens, biconvex aspheric lens, meniscus aspheric lens. Applications: cellphone camera lenses, automotive optics, AR/VR, laser collimation & focusing, endoscopes, camera lenses, optical sensors.
